New boutique paints the town pink

W hen Amanda Fylan envisioned opening her own card and gift shop, the name Tickled Pink was a natural. A self-professed “girly-girl,” she says she loves all things pink. Her boutique, which opened this month in downtown Romeo, reflects her unique and well-defined sense of style. Aptly named, the shop, nestled in charming downtown Romeo, offers unique invitations, handcrafted cards and gift items. The pristine interior is painted a perky shade of pink and the displays throughout the store make it a pleasure to peruse the merchandise, which is hand-selected by Fylan. Whether you want to declare your devotion or announce your wedding shower, you'll find just the right card or invitation to suit your individual style. They carry everything from precious birth announcements to upbeat block party invites. Fylan says she makes customer service a top priority. “We provide individual attention,” she says. “If I don't carry something, I'll take the time to find it. I will do whatever it takes to make the customer happy.” The cheeky girls' night out note cards make a special occasion out of a casual get together with gal pals. There are cards that you'd never even think to search for – and of course, there are the staples with a twist, including thank you notes, get-well cards and birthday greetings The shop is a perfect fit for the cozy community. “I wanted to open in a really quaint downtown setting,” says Fylan. “My husband grew up in Oxford and

suggested Romeo. So far, the community has embraced the new business. The reception I've received has been wonderful,” says Fylan. “People really seem to like the atmosphere and say our greeting cards are unique.” Fylan, who has an extensive background in retail management and merchandising, says that she's always loved greeting cards. “I love sending them and getting them in the mail. I love anything with glitter and bedazzling bows,” she shares. Her two loves collided at just the right time. Services offered at Tickled Pink include custom printing, both outsourced and inhouse. There's something for everyone – for those on a budget to those who want

to splurge. Vendors include Crane & Co., Julie Holcomb Printers and Letterpress, to name a few. In order to keep her stock up to snuff, Fylan attends trade shows regularly and is highly selective about the products she carries. “I can keep my pulse on what's hot

and trendy across the country,” she says. If you're in need of a present for a new baby, Tickled Pink also offers darling gifts, including cozy blankets and precious keepsake boxes. You'll also find an eclectic mix of collectibles – from scented soaps to monogrammed hand towels. And the friendly staff, comprised of Fylan, her mother and sister, will wrap your gift with beautiful papers, bows and ribbons to make it extra special for the recipient. In addition, you'll find decorative stamps and stickers to adorn your package.
